I've been writing fiction for as long as I can remember. With a clinical psychologist and a librarian for parents, I really had no choice but to love books, reading, writing, and delving into the human condition. Growing up in Chicago and loving to write led in just one direction: newspapers. I began writing (and sharpening pencils) for one of the four local newspapers while still a teenager. Cutthroat was a word invented for Chicago journalism and I learned a lot in that cauldron of greed, tension, crime, and inanity.\r\nAfter earning a doctorate in African history, I joined the U.S. State Department, traveling around the world as a diplomat focused on public affairs, meaning cultural and education exchange. I worked in Nigeria, Mauritania, and Mexico, as well as the exotic environment of Washington, D.C. Later I took that experience to a twenty-year career in university administration in Texas and New Jersey. Diversity and inclusion were the twin focuses of my work.\r\nMy wonderful husband, also a career diplomat, has been with me as a supportive partner all the way. Our twin sons, now grown and living in Texas, keep me inspired and proud.\r\nAll the while I was writing: memoranda, proposals, news articles, press releases, letters, reports, speeches. I turned my interest in fiction into an outpouring of over sixty fan fiction stories which really got my creative juices flowing. So arriving at the creation of a contemporary fictional world populated by decent, hard-working, cynical, ocassionally confused but always sturdy private eyes was a natural culmination of my lifetime journey. I'm having a blast with Harlem sleuth SJ Rook and I hope readers enjoy his adventures. I love interacting with my readers. Your comments, questions, and insights give me inspiration and much joy.
